Pixelache festival is organising a gathering dedicated to VJs and live audiovisual artists from Nordic/Baltic region.

The Nordic VJ Meeting is intended for VJs who want to present their work, debate issues related to VJ practices, share their knowledge and inspire each other. It aims to encourage future collaborations and exchange within the Nordic/Baltic VJ community.

Audiovisual concerts and VJ practices have always been an integral part of the festival. The edition 2003 of Pixelache festival, under the theme “Videojukka” - the Finnish translation of “video jockey”- gathered together a large group of VJs. A diverse group of practitioners of the video mixing world, from Finland, UK, US, Sweden, Canada and elsewhere, came to tell about their projects and share knowledge to creative working. The Nordic VJ Meeting 2007 will explore VJ practices further, specifically focusing on the networks operating within the Nordic/Baltic region.

The Nordic VJ Meeting will feature a diverse program of performances, seminars, workshops and club events. In addition to events at KIASMA Museum of Contemporary Art, The Nordic VJ meeting will present projects across various club venues in Helsinki. A series of Guerrilla actions are also to be seen in different parts of the city during 22 March-1 April 2006…

PARTICIPATE!

VJs based in the Nordic and Baltic countries can submit proposals of projects or concepts still in development or get involved at any level of the programme.

Please send us your proposals before 20th of November using the Pixelache 2007 submission form (The initial deadline of 15th of November has been postponed to 20th of November).

We do not have the possibility to cover travel costs or other expenses for participants of the Nordic VJ Meeting. We would however like to offer you our help and advice in arranging travel support as well as in finding cheap accomodation here in Helsinki.

Prix Möbius Nordica

In 2007, Pixelache is also collaborating with the digital media culture competition Prix Möbius Nordica. Read more about the Prix Möbius Nordica Experimental, focusing this year on VJ practices.
