From October to December 2003 the Portuguese
sound artist, lecturer and performer Adriana Sá
will be Artist in Residence at the Digital
Research Unit. Adriana will create a new performance work
during her residency.
Adriana Sá is a trans-disciplinary artist, performer, improviser,
composer and lecturer whose background is in the fields of visual
arts and music [Mendelsohm Hochschule fuer Musik, Atelier Livre,
FBA-UL].
Adriana has been investigating the reciprocal contamination of
creative means and sensibilities. She has been developing and
presenting her work in Europe, USA and Japan, frequently within
the frame of artistic residencies. She has been using varied electronic
sound instrumentation, concrete sounds, voice, light gradients
[sensors], space and performative movement in connection to architecture,
weather, geometry, notation systems, philosophy and other fields.
Adriana Sá has built an instrument for controlling sound
through light according to MIDI programming and real-time light
changes, which works as an organic structure in some site specific
performance-installations. The physical presence of her body and
her technological set-up also unfold as elements of architectural
signification.
