Written by Juhuu on March 26, 2009.The Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin) Digital Media class is lead by prof. Joachim Sauter (DE) and prof. Jussi Ängeslevä (FI/DE) who also work at ART+COM (see above).
The UdK Digital Media class attempts to reinvent itself every semester, focusing on a different emerging topic from technology, design and culture. Recent semesters have dealt with “Sensitive Surfaces; Implants, Wearables and Prostheses; Networked objects and Sacral Design. The resulting thought provoking projects from the class are consistently acknowledged by the international art and design communities as well as academia and have received numerous awards and invitations to exhibitions all over the world.
Pixelache 09 exhibition in the ground floor of Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art will feature a collection of works from the themes “Beauty of Data” and “Indie Design”, both looking at the aesthetics and game-changing qualities of rapid manufacturing and the merging of digital and physical manufacturing processes and methods.
