“WJs” est un logiciel et un dispositif public de performances Web, modulable, permettant à des acteurs de l’Internet (artistes du son, de l’image, netartistes, bloggeurs, graphistes, flasheurs, programmateurs, programmeurs, activistes, théoriciens des médias, pionniers et mutants du Web…) de jouer en live et en haut débit avec la diversité des contenus présents dans l’immensité du réseau. Les artistes, Sylvie Astiè, Jean-Baptiste Bayle, Lucille Calmel, Anne Laforet, Olga Kisseleva et Anne Roquigny explorent inlassablement les territoires mouvants et fluctuants du réseau. Leur parcours subjectif nous entraîne dans ses méandres et zones intimes. Avec “WJs”, ils jouent avec des ambiances érotiques et charnelle, le monde des algorithmes artistiques, du computer art, de l’écriture en ligne, du détournement, l’univers plastique, graphique, politique, sensible, esthétique et narratif du Web. WJ-s is a software and a flexible, high speed connexion public device for web performances which allows actors of the Internet : sound and image artists, netartists, bloggers, graphic designers, flashers, programmers, curators, hacktivists, newmedia theorists, pioneers and web mutants…to play live with the full scope of contents available in the wideness of the Web. The artists, Sylvie Astiè, Jean-Baptiste Bayle, Lucille Calmel, Anne Laforet, Olga Kisseleva, have different artistic, technical, cultural backgrounds. They all enjoy exploring and experimenting with the changing and fluctuating territories of the Internet. They subjectively articulate its intimate contours and zones. They play its erotic and heated atmosphere with the world of artistic algorithms and computer art, mailing lists and with an exacting choice of plastic, graphical, sensitive, political, social, aesthetic and narrative works they select on the realm of the web…

Anne Roquigny
Curatrice nouveaux médias, s’est spécialisée ces 10 dernières années dans la production, la programmation, la coordination et la promotion d’événements multimédias. Après s’être occupée pendant 3 ans de la programmation du Webbar à Paris (http://www.webbar.fr/), elle rejoint en 1999 l’équipe du CICV Pierre Schaeffer, un des premiers centres français de création et d’expérimentation dans le domaine du digital où elle assure successivement la coordination et la programmation artistique des festivals internationaux d’art numérique urbain (http://www.interferences.org/) et la direction adjointe du lieu. De 2002 à 2004 elle est responsable, à la Gaité Lyrique, de la coordination générale du projet de préfiguration du futur centre d’art numérique parisien.(http://www.la-gaite-de-paris.info/) . Anne Roquigny
Anne Roquigny, new media curator, has specialised during these last ten years in the production, programming, co-ordination and promotion of multimedia events. After devising and organising for 3 years (95_98) the cultural programs of events of the Web Bar, an internet café cum art gallery in Paris (http://www.webbar.fr/), she joins in 99 the CICV Pierre Schaeffer, one of the first french new media center where she’s working as artistic co-ordinator and programmer of the international urban multimedia arts festivals (http://www.interferences.org/) and then as co-director with Pierre Bongiovanni . From 2002 to 2004, Anne Roquigny is in charge of the general co-ordination of the preliminary project for a future Digital Arts Centre in Paris, dedicated to digital production and to music of our time, at la Gaité Lyrique. Sylvie Astiè : Graphiste, DJ, co-fondatrice des collectifs Büro et Dokidoki, fondatrice de no-text.net, un réseau de musiques alternatives via d’inédites sonneries de téléphones composées par des artistes. Co-fondatrice du collectif Büro (diffusion et concerts de musiques électroniques alternatives depuis 1995), elle est également très impliquée dans les arts plastiques d’aujourd’hui, dans la vidéo numérique (Pokipoki project - cinetic videomix) et dans l’invention d’une approche inédite du karaoké (le projet « Orchestre Vide »). Elle intervient également de manière ponctuelle dans des écoles d’art et dans des écoles d’ingénieurs sur la mixité des pratiques artistiques et économiques, et la participation des structures indépendantes aux marchés émergents. http://www.no-text.net

A visual artist at Dokidoki Studio (Paris) she founded in 2001, DJ (aka Sascii), Sylvie Astié has conceived and designed the www.no-text.net website which features original ringtones that she commissioned from artists on the alternative electro scene. A co-founder of Büro collective (producer of alternative electronic music concerts), she is also very much involved in the current visual arts scene, in digital video (Pokipoki project - cinetic videomix) and in an original approach to karaoke (”Orchestre vide”). Jean-Baptiste Bayle : Artiste, actionniste audio, déprogrammeur et expert de la contre-surveillance au quotidien. Il est l’anti-auteur de nombreux sites parodiques et collections de remixs. Son travail est présenté dans de nombreux festival et institutions internationaux ….. Agitateur à l’Université, puis à l’Ensba, le Collège Invisible, et enfin Agglo, il continue de rêver d’un monde vivable sous la perspective de la vie immédiate. Il a coordonné différents projets collectifs, Borderphonics, Bugnmix, Ressources, enseigné à l’Ecole supérieure d’art de Grenoble et conduit des ateliers avec l’Atelier d’Architecture Autogérée à Paris, et se produit régulièrement en concert, manifestant permanent de la société de Big Brother. http://streamlab.info/
Jean-Baptiste Bayle : Jean-Baptiste is a media artist, and an electronic musician. bastard-coder, copyfighter, he hijacks databases, programs online plunderphonic machines ; political disturber of the machine that makes the world go round, expert of everyday’s counter-surveillance. He is the anti-author of many parodic websites and collections of remixes and has shown his work in international art spaces. He has coordinated various collective projects, Borderphonics, Bugnmix, Ressources, taught at the High School of art of Grenoble, organized many workshops and regularly performs live concerts. http://streamlab.info/

Olga Kisseleva fait partie de cette première génération d’artiste russe de la Perestroïka, qui a fait tomber le mur de Berlin et lever le rideau de fer. Elle développe un travail original, oscillant entre le vrai et le faux, à la recherche de l’improbable frontière qui sépare l’un de l’autre où elle met en doute la capacité des nouveaux médias créer une image fidèle de la réalité. Son œuvre entremêle des actions qui se déroulent dans les milieux urbains ou en réseau avec des interventions dans les galeries et musées du monde entier.
