The human body acts like an antenna that can sense
any sort of electric fields. This accumulated amount of electricity
can be discharged on a physical device of high impedance like an
amplifier. The amplified voltage can be then conducted to speakers
which translate this electric signal into sound. Depending on the
way the contact is established between the body and the amplifier
and because almost no current is needed to keep the volts up, various
noises can be produced from buzz, clicks, pops and other hums.
This collection of sounds is manipulated and stored
live into diverse audio and video patterns. New noises keep on being
added to the sequence and start to build more and complex rhythms
and visuals.
Aymeric Mansoux [France] is an artist and co-founder
of 'Goto10', a non-profit organisation dedicated to the support
and production of
electronic arts.
Since the mid-nineties Aymeric Mansoux has been a
participant in numerous experimental cultural projects based on
the Internet, and the emergence of communication networks. Working
without pre-recorded material, he manipulates live algorithmic processes
and invites the audience to witness an exploration of an ever changing
audiovisual datascape.
Aymeric Mansoux is currently Artist in Residency at
the Digital Research Unit group of Huddersfield. During his residency
he will be working on a physical device that can snapshot and make
visible instances of wireless networks.
