A Deepness in the Sky
Artists: Markus Pasula, Niko Leskinen, Arto Koivisto(music producing)
A Deepness in the Sky is an audiovisual experiment on synchronizing
realtime rendered graphics to music using various user-defined parameters.
The experiment adheres to the "monotonous but evolving" mentality of techno
music and is partially inspired by "the art of VJ'ing" as portrayed at
club events and raves. The purpose of the experiment was to try out
various parameters and technical approaches before starting to program a
realtime-controlled VJ-system.
A Deepness in the Sky competed in a demo competition at the State of the
Art (S.O.T.A) party which was held during mid-December 2002 in conjunction
with the Pix-Festival event held in Lille, France. The demonstration
placed 2nd in the main competition of the event. All of the participating
artists are part of the demo group MFX. The group has around 15 more or
less active members, most of who are from Finland. MFX has produced over
40 audiovisual demonstrations and videos during the past 8 years.
