Head Phones
Artist: Topi Kaaresoja, amateur musician from Helsinki, plays keyboards, sings and makes songs. This demo has been inspired by his work in Nokia Research Center.
Extreme machine music for a microcontroller and two vibra motors
The demo produces stereo aural-tactile musical experience. The user puts a
mobile phone mockup on both ears, selects the song from a control box keypad,
and hears and feels the selected musical piece. The musical pieces are created
with a microcontroller called Basic Stamp II, having only 2 kilobytes of
program memory. The most significant issue is the sound source: Both the sound
and vibration come from a standard vibration motor inside a mobile phone - no
loudspeakers are used.
